'Ride On Time' samples Loleatta Holloway's vocals from 1980's 'Love Sensation'. It had a huge influence on the music of the time since many tracks released after this included Loleatta samples, or vocals which resembled them (see 49ers on this mix as an example). Of course the main vocal on this track is 'Right On Time' but the group's terrible English resulted in the nonsensical title. The sampled vocals had to be redone for international release after Loleatta sued; the singer was Heather Small who later had success with M People. Neither Loleatta or Heather were given credit for the vocals at the time (vocal credits were not required on records at the time - this changed after Martha Wash spurred legislation to make vocal credits mandatory after she went uncredited on future Black Box releases and releases from C+C Music Factory). Instead the vocals were attributed to a model named Catherine Quinol (aka Katrin) who is generally regarded as the face of Black Box. Katrin screached the vocals live on their 2nd appearance on Top Of The Tops and it was laughably awful. And this ends my lecture on Black Box's first release...
Yet another vocal scandal occurred with Technotronic. The vocals on 'Pump Up The Jam' were by Ya Kid K but the blue lipped model Felly, who appeared in the video, got all the credit
