  • Touched By The Hand Of God was believed by some to be a reference to the 'Hand of God' goal that Diego Maradona scored for Argentina against England to put them out of the 1986 World Cup
  • John 'Jellybean' Benitez is an ex-boyfriend of Madonna and produced most of her debut album
  • Dusty Springfield was a popular singer in the 60s, who's revival in the late 80s was thanks to this collaboration with the the Pet Shop Boys
  • 'Causing a Commotion' was from the soundtrack to Madonna's film 'Who's That Girl'

  • Alexander O'Neal was an original member of the The Time, along with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis who produced 'Fake' and 'Criticize'
  • Janet Jackson sang on Herb Alpert's 'Diamonds'. The track, along with Keep Your Eye On Me, was produced by long-time Jackson producers, Jam and Lewis
  • I could write a book on Mandy Smith but instead just link to here. I Just Can't Wait was produced by Stock, Aitken and Waterman before they got overly commercial, and was a huge hit in Ibiza.
  • 'The Night You Murdered Love' was co-produced by Bernard Edwards, co-founder of Chic. Hence the Sheer-Chic tribute mix.
  • Shep Pettibone was one of the first to create multiple versions or alternate productions/interpretations of the same song (ie. remix). He was a huge influence on the evolution of dance music during the 80s.

Historical Facts

  • Coldcut's remix of 'Paid In Full' was revolutionary at the time and a breakthrough in the remix field. Eric B apparently hated it and referred to it as 'gay disco shit'
  • Famous DJ & Remix duo C.J. Mackintosh & Dave Dorrell were involved in the production of 'Pump Up The Volume'
  • 'Someday' was produced by house godfather Marshall Jefferson. The piano would later be revived in rave classics Sweet Harmony by Liquid and Some Justice by Urban Shakedown. Check those out here
  • Rhythim is Rhythim is Derrick May, one of the founders of techno
  • '2 Men' are the blokes behind Fine Young Cannibals. It was a one-off experiment while Roland Gift was off trying to be an actor. Their obvious love for house music can be heard on their various FYC 12" remixes
  • '2 Puerto Ricans, a Black Man, and a Dominican' are, respectively, Dave Morales, Ralph Rosario, David Cole and Robert Clivilles. The track was basically a bootleg of the Adonis track with samples and Cole's legendary ivory tinkling
  • Phuture's 'Acid Trax' is widely acknowledged to have been the first acid track, featuring characteristic bass lines from the Roland TB-303
